Biography
George Odo is the Managing Director of AfricInvest in East & Southern Africa, based in Nairobi, Kenya, and a Senior Partner with the firm. With over 16 years of experience at
AfricInvest, George is also a key member of the firm’s Executive Committee.
Since establishing AfricInvest’ s operations in Kenya in 2009, George has been instrumental in deploying over USD 500 million across the East and Southern African regions. His investments span a range of strategies including Private Equity, Private Credit, Venture Capital, and specialist investment vehicles, contributing to the firm’s robust regional growth.
Before joining AfricInvest, George had a decade-long career with CARE International,
beginning as a Project Manager in Kenya and ultimately serving as the Regional Director for East & Southern Africa. His diverse background has equipped him with a deep understanding of development and business.
George brings extensive board experience to various organizations, with notable roles at Abacus Pharmaceuticals, Old Mutual Holdings, UAP Group, Family Bank, Mayfair Bank, Brookhouse International School, Britam Holdings, and the Danish Refugee Council.
His work spans a broad spectrum of industries, including Agribusiness, Microfinance, Banking, Insurance, Education, FMCG, Plastics Packaging, Pharmaceuticals, and Auto Services.
A lifelong learner, George has had the privilege of studying across four continents. He holds an Executive MBA, a BCom, and a PBAS, in addition to a range of certifications in Audit, Private Equity, ESG, HR, and IT, reflecting his commitment to continuous professional development.
