Biography
SM is CEO of the eSwatini Investment Promotion Authority (EIPA). Prior to that, he worked in corporate finance for global investment banks. He has held various executive roles at a listed company on the JSE and he was also CEO of a rail locomotives business. He currently serves as a non-executive director at a mobility solutions company listed on JSE and at COMESA RIA. He is course facilitator for postgraduate investment promotion studies at a leading South African university.
SM’s areas of expertise extend to corporate governance, trade and investment promotion, international law and regional governance. He has led business reforms in eSwatini which have, among others, resulted in the establishment of a one-stop shop that streamlines services for investors, the establishment of a national investment policy and the transition of EIPA from a traditional IPA to an economic development agency.
He holds postgraduate degrees in Banking & Finance Law, Oil & Gas Law and International Development. He is an Associate of Kings College London, a Chartered Director and Fellow of the IoD of South Africa and a Chartered Secretary and Fellow at the CGI Southern Africa. He is Ocean Ambassador at the International Ocean Institute and Fellow at the Africa Leadership Institute, a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
