Dr. Erick K. Rutto is a distinguished National Hero in the field of Entrepreneurship and Industry. He is the propriator of Reale Group of Hospitals and a Doctor of Medicine and Surgery by profession, specialised in Tropical and Infectious Diseases

Dr. Erick K. Rutto is a distinguished leader in entrepreneurship, industry and international trade. He is the proprietor of Reale Group of Hospitals and a Doctor of Medicine and Surgery by profession, specialized in Tropical and Infectious Diseases.

Dr. Rutto serves as the President of the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) and Chairperson of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR) – Private Sector Forum following his election by twelve member states in Zambia in November 2023. In this capacity, he actively promotes and safeguards the commercial and industrial interests of the business community in Kenya and across the ICGLR region, facilitating domestic and international trade through structured trade missions, policies, exhibitions and investment promotion initiatives.

In addition to his national and regional leadership roles. In 2025, Dr. Rutto was appointed International Trade & Investment Advisor to Shandong Province, People’s Republic of China. This strategic advisory mandate institutionalizes a high-level economic cooperation corridor between Shandong Province and Kenya, positioning KNCCI as a gateway platform for Africa–Asia trade, industrial partnerships and investment facilitation.

He serves as a Committee Member of World Green Design Organization (WGDO) representing Kenya, an international organization with UN ECOSOC Special Consultative Status. This engagement expands KNCCI’s scope into green technology promotion, product certification frameworks and sustainable industrial transformation.

He serves as a Member of the World Chambers Federation (WCF) General Council, contributing to global chamber strategy, SME development and cross-border trade facilitation.

Dr. Rutto was appointed by H.E. President William Ruto in 2022 as Chairperson of the Water Sector Trust Fund and previously served as a Member of the Board of Directors at the Water Services Regulatory Board (WASREB).

His research interests include translational medical research, antiretroviral drug resistance in HIV-1 patients, malaria–HIV coinfections in endemic regions and antibacterial sensitivity and antibiotic stewardship patterns in Kenya.

Dr Rutto is an active member of the Kenya Medical Association (KMA), the Kenya Association of Private Hospitals (KAPH). His involvement in these professional organizations reflects his commitment to the advancement of healthcare and the improvement of medical services.
