Biography

Mr. Satoshi Hamano with 18 years’ experience in development sector serves as a deputy head of the JICA Kenya, where he leads operation in renewable energy development (generation, Transmission, distribution & Capacity development), green growth (Circular Economy Promotion, SEZ & Africa Green Growth Corridor Development), PSIF (Private Sector financing & Partnerships), WASH(Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) and Infrastructure development (Ports & Roads).

Prior to his assignment in Kenya, he held several key roles at JICA Headquarters, including Lead Credit Officer for private sector finance, Water Finance Specialist, Sustainability Specialist, and Lead Treasury Officer responsible for raising funds in the global debt capital markets.

Additionally, he used to work as an expert for the Align to Accelerate (A2A) initiative in 2025—led by WHO and UNICEF in collaboration with the World Bank—which aims to establish core indicators and a unified monitoring framework to assess the strength and performance of WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) systems globally.
